Geocache Description:


Setup the Cache near the bridge.
The name "Shikishima" comes from the first line of a famous waka poem about cherry blossoms by Motoori Norinaga. It is named after the Sakuragawa River, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot that was once connected to this river and flowed in the direction of Takashima-cho.
In spring, the Ishizaki River where the bridge is located is decorated with cherry blossoms.

「敷島」の由来は、本居宣長（もとおりのりなが）の桜にちなんだ有名な和歌の冒頭句です。
かつて、この川と繋がり高島町方面へ流れた桜の名所「桜川」にちなんだものです。
ここ敷島橋でも、春には橋が架かる石崎川沿いを桜が彩ります。
