Geocache Description:

Dallas is an American prime time television soap opera that aired on U.S. network television from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991. The series revolves around an affluent and feuding Texas family, the Ewings, who own the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork. The series originally focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes, a modern day "Romeo and Juliet" whose families were sworn enemies. As the series progressed, Bobby's elder brother, oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, became the show's breakout character, whose schemes and dirty business became the show's trademark.  J.R. was a villain who regularly double-crossed business associates, plotted against his own family, mistreated his wife, and had her committed to a sanatorium so he could take custody of their infant son.  When the show ended on May 3, 1991, J.R. Ewing, played by actor Larry Hagman, was the only character to have appeared in every episode.

The show was prominent for its cliffhangers, including the "Who shot J.R.?" mystery.  In the final scene of the episode that ended the 1979-80 season, titled "A House Divided", J.R. hears a noise outside his office, walks out to the corridor to look, and is shot twice by an unseen assailant.  Viewers had to wait all summer to learn whether J.R. would survive, and which of his many enemies was responsible.  His shooter was revealed in "Who Done It", the first episode of the 1980-81 season, which remains the second-highest-rated prime-time telecast ever.  The great success of this 1980 stunt helped popularize in the United States the practice of ending a television season with a cliffhanger.

J.R. Ewing was the character everyone loved to hate!

This cache is placed in his honor.

You are searching for a round plastic disk container, about the size of a quarter.  One need not cross any gate or fence to find the cache.
