Geocache Description:

Quick cache

The cache is located on the Lion's Den trail (turn right heading into Fogo, and keep your eyes out for the turn-off on Pickett's Road.)

This a great trail, although the the cache is actually only about a 40-minute return trip. Keep the left at the first fork toward Locke's Cove and Eastern Tickle.

In 1851, Locks Cove, Eastern Tickle and Lions Den were settled by fisherpersons from the surrounding areas of Notre Dame Bay. In 1945 residents of these communities resettled at Fogo and neighbouring areas for the convenience of being near schools, churches and, medical assistance.

The 4.5 kilometre trail boasts scenic views, whale watching, bird watching, berry picking (ie: partridge berries, blueberries and marshberries) and potential picnic and boil up areas. Also, there is a fresh water supply nearby which is easily accessible.

The cache is located near a raised pond overlooking the sea. You will turn left and travel up to find the cache.

Of the 30 caches we have placed on the Kittiwake Coast, this one has few rivals for sheer scenic beauty. There is an amazing cache (not one of ours) at Brimstone Head nearby that we encourage you to find as well.

The cache contains:

Pins
Magnets
Tatoos
Bookmarks

We have placed four caches in total on unforgettable Fogo Island. Prior to visiting, we encourage you to check the ferry schedule.

This cache is one of 30 being placed on the Kittiwake Coast. For more details, visit our site. Good caching!
