Ardgartan car park lies on the south side of the A83 between Loch Long and the Rest and Be Thankful, 3 miles west of Arrochar. There is no charge to park in the car park. The visitor centre has been closed for several years but the public toilets are open 24/7/365. The water comes straight from the loch so is not suitable for drinking. There are no litter bins so please take your litter home with you.
This is a good starting place for a hike or cycle around the Cowal Way, to Coilessan, Mark Cottage, Corran Lochan. Loch Long is a sea loch popular for fishing and kayaking. Red squirrels, otters and grey seals can be seen in this area, and sometimes even whales porpoises and dolphins. It would be lovely to read what you have seen in your logs.
