The Deer Park Nature Preserve has a .6 mile main loop that makes for an enjoyable walk in all types of weather. It is mostly a decomposed granite path, but it also has a boardwalk in the back section where the ground is a bit lower. The interior of the Preserve contains .9 miles of mown trails, and it is marked with wooden posts to help you easily find your way back to the main loop. In some places the grass trail can get quite wet after a good rain so make sure and be careful as to which direction you walk!!
The cache is just off one of the mown grass trails, so if it has rained recently come prepared with the proper footware. There is a very large oak tree near to the cache that's really cool to look at, with a place to sit and sign the log just a short distance from GZ. There could be snakes, mosqitoes and poison ivy here at times, but none were seen during the placement of this cache.
The container is large enough for normal sized trackables, and I have started it off with a small amount of SWAG.
The park is open daily from dawn to dusk. Please be repectful of the posted hours.
Dogs are allowed if they stay on a leash, and stay on the trails.
