The posted coordinates are NOT for the letterbox hybrid cache! My inspiration for this cache came after watching the classic 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption. Will you help Red Redding find his long-lost friend Andy Dufresne?
Andy has just escaped from the nearby Shawshank State Penitentiary after serving time for a double murder he did not commit. While planning his escape, Andy gives Red, his best friend from prison, a specific set of instructions to follow that will lead him to a hidden box on the way to Zihuatanejo, Mexico (geocaching was not invented until 2000, so this box is a letterbox with a stamp😉). Since Red had served most of his life in prison, he quickly realized he had no navigational skills once he was paroled. He needs your help locating Andy’s box!
Start your journey at the posted coordinates, at a prominent tree in a beautiful grass field. Doesn’t this look exactly like the tree in the movie (minus the stone wall)? I bet you can barely tell the difference!
The instrutions for finding this cache are simple. Once you are at the posted coords under the tree, walk ~400 feet (give or take a few) directly east. There you will find Andy’s box, which will help Red find Andy in Zihuatanejo!
