Geocache Description:

Incorporated on April 17, 1929, the Commercial Club has a rich history of community engagement. Led by Otto A. Reinke, Joseph P. Platten, Fred N. Torrey, Vincent M. Freiburger, and Enoch C. Otis, the club's first President was Reinke, with Walter L. Schroder as Vice President and Leonard R. Schwartz as secretary.

In its early years, the club organized homecomings on Main Street, and after a decade, they purchased park called the "Fair Ground" from the Outagamie Agriculture Society. The first homecoming held at this park successfully paid off a $1,600 mortgage. During World War II, homecomings were suspended due to shortages, but apart from those years, the celebration always occurred on the third weekend in June.

Throughout its existence, the Commercial Club has achieved remarkable success with its projects and events. The inaugural club entertainment, "The Womanless Wedding," sold out twice in the Community Hall in November 1929. In 1936, the Club sponsored Maynard Servis in a wheelbarrow race, where he triumphed by pushing a wheelbarrow from Waupun to Antigo along Highway 26.

Now, over 90 years later, the Commercial Club continues to thrive. The fundraising event has evolved from the Homecoming to a Harley Raffle, held annually on the third Saturday in August. This testament to their enduring spirit and dedication demonstrates the club's ongoing commitment to community engagement and support.
