Poker Run 2023 and Potluck Event Cache

POKER RUN 2023!

Come join us for some food and fun! 

This is also a pot luck event, so bring something your favorite food (or drinks) to share with the Geohana! Please post what you are bringing so others can plan accordingly. We will have plates, cups and utensils provided.

Bring you park chairs as seating may be limited. 

You do not have to bring food or participate in the poker run to log an attended for the event.

History of the famous Poker Run: 

• 2010:  The inaugural Poker Run event, Run Pokerdog Run! made its debut in Hawaii by CGOhana and Sillygirl & Jrr. 
• 2011:  CGOhana and Sillygirl & Jrr did it again with the Slippah Pokah Run.
• 2012:  The next hot event, Dog Days of Summer! - 3rd Annual Poker Run was hosted by DAAM Cachers and Sillygirl & Jrr. 
• 2013:  The same crew, DAAM Cachers and Sillygirl & Jrr, went wild with Fours are Wild! (4th Annual Poker Run)
• 2014:  DAAM Cachers and Sillygirl & Jrr evaded the police when they hosted Hawaii Five-O My! (5th Annual Poker Run)
• 2017:  Sillygirl & Jrr took cachers all around the world with their Caching the Globe! (6th Poker Run)
• 2019:  Fun times and good food was had at the Poker Run and Potluck, hosted by the_geocaching_ohana.  It was the last Poker Run event that Sillygirl & Jrr participated in before they left the island… 
• 2021: Skotlee and CacheAngel+ continue the tradition of the Poker Run with creative new puzzle and lots of prizes given away. Everyone was a winner!
• 2023: Skotlee and CacheAngel+ once again continue the Poker Run tradition!

POKER RUN INSTRUCTIONS:
You can play one hand per geocaching name.
There will be 5 nearby caches where sealed envelopes of poker cards will be hidden.  At the start, you will be given simple puzzles to solve to obtain the five cache coordinates and a time limit.  After you collect a sealed envelope from all five caches, you'll return to the event coordinates with your sealed envelopes and the event hosts will give you one additional card.  Envelopes can only be opened in the presence of the event hosts.  You must make the best POKER HAND utilizing 5 of the 6 from the cards you've collected. Prizes will be awarded!

IMPORTANT:  If you plan to participate in the poker run, you must R.S.V.P. by 3:00pm, Saturday, July 29th.

We need an accurate count to ensure we have enough cards on hand.
(You can attend the event and not participate in the poker run.)

PRIZES:
Prizes will be distributed in order of the highest poker hand to the lowest. It is our intent that everyone who plays will get a prize. The highest hand will have the first choice of prizes available followed by the next highest hand and so on to the last participant. If there is a tie, the people tied will “draw” for the highest card from the card deck.  

SCHEDULE:

9:00 - 9:30
Check in, drop off donations and TBs, receive your game puzzle coordinates and rules.

9:30 - 11:00
Locate all five caches and pick up a sealed envelope from each.
All participants must return to the event coordinates by 11:00 to be eligible for prizes!

11:00 - 12:00:
The dealer (Skotlee) will review all "hands" and determine the order of the prize winners.
You must be present to receive your prize!
