Geocache Description:

30 September 2023, 08:00 - 19:00

Hosted by the Friends of Lake Wapello!

They kindly provide us with the insurance that we need to hold our event here!

There will be all new caches at the Lake for the event.

We will load your GPS'r with all the new caches, we have put out for the event.  Please bring your cables just in case we do not have the one you need.  There is no internet or phone service in 99% of the Lake.  GPS'r are highly recommended.

Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning at Cabin 13 usually has a big fire going with cachers relaxing and sharing stories.  (You might get hints on where to find a cache you could not find that day.)  You will need to bring your folding chairs and if you want, you can bring snacks and drinks to relax around the fire.  There are usually cachers there till about 10pm, depends on the weather and if they still have stories to tell.

There is a Gadget Cache Competition

Gadget caches are to be set up by 9 am Saturday morning at he Lodge.   Caches need to be removed between 2 and 4 pm Saturday.

Entries will be assigned a number.  Each registered geocaching name can cast one vote for their favorite gadget cache between 9 am and 2 pm.  A traveling trophy will be presented to the winner at 3:30 pm when we get back together for the prize drawing and group pictures at eh lodge.  The trophy is to be returned to the SEIowa team at the start of the following years event.

The winner of each year's competion is encouraged to host the following year's compition and may not compete in that year's compition.  Damiel67 will be hosting the 2023 compition.  Let him know if you have any questions or if you require power at angiepadget79@gmail.com or 641-208-2398

Everyone is invited to participate in the gadget cache compition.  No entry is too big or too small or too complex.  Non-participants can enjoy the caches and sign the log.

About gadget caches: a gadget  cache is a type of field puzzle.  It may involve mechanical or electrical assemblies or puzzles that require some activity to gain acess to the log.  When designing a gadget cache, keep saftey (sharp edges, pinch points, voltages, etc.) in mind and remember children will be using them.

When you log your "will attend" please put down how many people will be in your group so we can buy enough food for the weekend.  If you do not plan on eating at the events  please let us know that also.
