Memories at Fairhope Overlook
You will not have to tresspass onto railroad property in order to find this geocache. There is no need to go on the tracks or the ballast. Read my rather generous hint if you're stuck on how to get to the cache ;)
We discovered this rather unknown lookout spot back in December of 2019 while on a trip seeing train sights on the Sand Patch Grade. We enjoyed it so much we went back for another trip in October of 2022, during which I captured some stunning pictures of the fall foliage at the overlook, but only one train. We first met the kind lady who lives in the nearby house on that day as well.

To get up to the overlook, you will be climbing up a short but steep rocky slope, luckily there is a rope for you to grasp onto. Depending on how fit you are, this rather short climb by itself would be a terrain 2.5-4.5. Once at the overlook, follow directions in the hint to get to the cache. It will be a very short hike. You're looking for a geocaching ammo can container hidden under two flat pieces of brownish-red slate in an outcropping. Please replace exactly as found. Keep in mind that there have been deer and bears spotted in the area. Remember to BYOP and have fun!
