A little treasure on the west side of a steep dry trail.
Just another cache in the foothills. I came up here to place my Brigadoon Lost cache, and figured, what the hey, there was room; why not place a second one?
The day I placed this, I had to dodge at least two separate groups of muggles. They were treasure-seekers, but not the geocaching kind. They were hunting for the “Utah Treasure”, a real treasure hunt for a chest of money hidden somewhere in Utah. (As of this writing, still not found.) Very cool, but to be frank, I just wanted them to hunt somewhere else so I could place my geocaches! :)
Be prepared to bushwhack up a steep slope, with loose rocks underfoot. Brigham Face WMA is closed annually from January-April. I don't think the cache is within the WMA, but if the gate across the access road is locked at that time, it will add about a quarter-mile to the hike.
I’m late on writing it up, but this cache is part of the series, MountainHobbit's Mathoms, Year 17. Don't know what a mathom is? Check out Chapter 1 in the Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien to find out the reason for this (belated) hobbity celebration!
