NOTE- The cemetery is not open 24 hours as it states on the funeral home website. Actual hours for the cemetery pipe gates are Dawn to Dusk. Please be repectful of those hours!
The story- When I was a child there was an elderly lady who lived two houses down from us, and she was my babysitter during that time. But I didn't know that! I always thought we were related, and she was an Aunt because she was the same age as my grandparents, and I was always over at her house or she was at ours. These were simpler times for sure ... no fences or sidewalks, and we didn't lock our doors or shut our windows at night. And when we visited one another, we would just walk across the yard (front or back) of the house in between us and the neighbors didn't mind. Even though she died when I was eight years old, I can still remember my parents checking me out of my third grade class and taking me to her funeral. I have many fond memories of her so I wanted to place a cache in her honor!
The cache- This is a two stage multi cache with the final being within walking distance of where you begin, and you can park within feet of her marker. At Stage 1 you will find a grave marker with Sallie Anderson's name on it. When facing her marker there will be a grave to the right, and a vacant space to the left. She is the only Sallie in the area so it should be easy to find her marker and to be certain you are at the correct location. Again, you can park within feet of her marker.
To find the cache gather some information from her marker and answer six easy questions to fill in the missing coordinates-
N29 39.ABC W095 06.DEF
A = The second number from the year she was born.
B = Add the two digits from her birthday together, and then add 1.
C = The first number of the year she passed away.
D = The last digit of the year she was born.
E = The number of letters in her first name.
F = The first number of the year she was born.
The final is inside the cemetery, just a short distance from where you are standing now. Thanks for visiting her gravesite!
