Cache is set at an old foundation on the edge of Tamarack Location (created and named by the tamarack Mining Company, which operated to shafts to the east of here and three to the north). Foundation likely a house when the location was larger during mining days.
Closest access is from the north. Still listed on some maps as Spruce St., a foot trail leads off of the end of Spuce St. leading to cache.
At the start of the trail is a clearing to the west. The clearing was the location of the Tamarack School, with the Tamarack Hospital to the north. Fenced in area was a snow measuring site for the Houghton County Road Commission.
