About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

About Mississippi A&M College Station

From the time that the school opened in 1880, there was a train station for students travelling to campus. This station was located along a spur line from the main line of the Mobile & Ohio Railroad in Lowndes County to Starkville. Until 1928, the station was simply an open-air platform where students would disembark from the train. In 1928, the current building was constructed by the M&O in the Commercial style. As the name of the school changed several times over the years, the station was renamed. Thus, many old maps list the station as 'Mississippi State College'. In the mid-1960s, the Gulf, Mobile, & Ohio Railroad closed the line, which resulted in the closure of the station. The building was eventually renovated and converted by the University to house the John C. Stennis Institute of Government.

While the rails are long gone, one can still see their impact throughout campus and the surrounding county. There is an old railbed located to the south near Eckie's Pond, and a small section of the old rails remain embedded in the sidewalk near Davis Wade Stadium.

You'll need to visit the site and find the following information to calculate the final coordinates. The final is approximately 2 minutes away by walking. Use the answers from the questions below to solve for the coordinates.

A = How many doors are there on the front side of the building facing the plaza?

B = How many lines of text are on the sign next to the front door?

C = How many squares of glass are there directly above the main door?

N 33° 27. (C-(A*2)) (A+C) (C)'

W 88° 47. (A) (A+B) (A+C)'

You can check your answers for this puzzle on GeoChecker.com.
