Here we are again, time for just another event, since it's been so long since we all got together for some geochat......... well probably not that long given all the current challenges!  But it's time for something different - and in the dark!  An event at this location back in April sparked an idea in my head, and after some consultation with the EO of that event, well a plan was made!

In 2023 the Perseid meteor shower is active between 17 July and 24 August, with the number of meteors increasing every night until it reaches a peak in mid-August, after which it will tail off. This year the peak falls on the night of the 12th and before dawn on 13 August.  This year the maximum is about three days before the New Moon, so conditions are favourable.

So this event has been timed to maximise the chances of seeing something spectacular! To avoid any confusion, the published start time is on the evening of the 12th August.  Let's hope for a clear night, wrap up warm and bring something to sit on.  Some grand snacks may be on offer but you should bring your own hot drink.  

And of course it goes without saying that if you have recently tested postive for COVID-19 or have any symptoms then unfortunately you should stay at home and catch up with us all next time.
