Did you drive all the way down here in your regular car and then realize it would be wiser to use a 4WD on the bumpy Polihale sand road? Then this cache is just for you ... You deserve it.
Driving Kaumalii Highway south/west on the island of Kauai will take you through Interesting little towns with lots of history - Port Allen and Hanapepe, Waimea, then Kekaha and finally as you pass the Marine Base on your left, you enter the area known as Mana Plains Forest Reserve. This reserve once contained a large seasonal wetland area that was home to native species prior to becoming agricultural land.
Polihale's beautiful beach is also accessed from this highway and a 4WD is strongly recommended if you are planning to cache or visit Polihale at the end of a very bumpy sand road. It is well worth the visit - we rented a jeep for the day during one of our month long visits.
That being said before you turn around on the paved road to head back, we have hidden a final cache on your left as you look at the mountain range in the distance. It is a small (3x5) locknlock waterproof container, too small for a pen so bring your own. There is a bonus bison tube cache with a log (ready to deploy) for the FTF.
