Eine Bifurkation (von lat. furca „die Gabel“) ist eine Verzweigung (Gabelung) eines fließenden Gewässers derart, dass das Wasser über zwei verschiedene Ströme das Meer erreicht.
Das Wasser überschreitet an einer Bifurkation eine Wasserscheide und tritt somit vom Einzugsgebiet eines Flusssystems in das eines anderen über.
An dieser Stelle teilt sich der Krollbach in den Krollbach und in den Schwarzwasserbach.
Der Krollbach fließt über den Haustenbach, die Lippe und den Rhein in die Nordsee.
Der Schwarzwasserbach fließt über den Hallerbach und die Ems ebenfalls in die Nordssee.

A bifurcation (from Latin furca "the fork") is a branching (bifurcation) of a flowing body of water in such a way that the water reaches the sea via two different streams.
The water crosses a watershed at a bifurcation and thus passes from the catchment area of one river system into that of another.
At this point, the Krollbach divides into the Krollbach and the Schwarzwasserbach.
The Krollbach flows into the North Sea via the Haustenbach, the Lippe and the Rhine.
The Schwarzwasserbach also flows into the North Sea via the Hallerbach and the Ems.
