Geocache Description:

My favorite geocaches have always been the ones that take you somewhere you'd maybe never go and give you back a little nugget of information to take away with you. Maybe it's historical, maybe it's just interesting...

This cache is next to a ski area that has been around since 1927. For historical context, it's the oldest continuously operating ski area in the state and second oldest in the country. In the winter time, this is a really popular place for people to learn to ski or snowboard and snowshoe. In the summer and fall seasons the area is perfect for easy hikes.

Way back when, there were a series of rope tows and a T Bar lift that took you up the edge of the ski area. These have long been removed but if you look close enough you can still find what remains of them. This will take you to what was the upper terminal of one of those long forgotten ski lifts, which today provide a nice place to sit, relax, and enjoy some fresh mountain air. If the weather is clear you'll also be afforded a beautiful view of Mt Hood on the way up.

This cache requires an uphill hike, snowshoe, skin, or bike ride and should be accesible year round but much depends on the snow level in winter. If you attempt this in the winter months, use appropriate gear and follow the uphill travel signs on the far left of the area.

There is no fee required to access this cache and it is in no way affiliated with the adjacent ski area. Technically speaking, a snow park permit is required for the parking area between November 1 and April 30.

Bring your own pen.
