Tervetuloa seikkailulle Kiteen Niinikummun sydämeen - Niinipuistoon!
Niinipuiston tarina alkoi vuonna 2019 kun kova myrsky kaatoi alueella kasvaneet lehtikuuset. Mysrkyn jälkeen maanomistaja lahjoitti maan Niinikummun kyläyhdistyksekselle, joka päätti herättää alueen uuteen loistoon.
Seikkaillessasi Niinipuiston poluilla huomaat korkeimmalle kohdalle kohoavan näkötornin, josta avautuu näkymä ympäröivälle maaseudulle (tai ainakin voit kuvitella sen, sillä näkötornin rakennus on vielä suunnitteilla). Puistoon istutetut niinipuut (eli metsälehmukset) tarjoavat väsyneille matkalaisille lehvästönsä varjoa levähdyspaiksi (tai ainakin tulevat tarjoamaan kunhan pienet taimet ovat kasvaneet).
Alueen laidalla seisoo myös kunnostettu vanha riihi 1900-luvun alusta. Riihessä, maalaistalon tärkeässä rakennuksessa, kuivattiin ja puitiin viljaa uunin lämmössä. Riihessä asusti usein riihitonttu tuomassa turvaa ja varmistamassa ettei uunin tuli sammu tai leviä. Tässäkin riihessä, Niinipuiston Riihitonttu, tuo salaperäinen olento valvoo edelleen riihen eloa.

Welcome to an adventure in the heart of Niinikumpu, Kitee - Niinipuisto!
The story of Niinipuisto started in 2019 when a heavy storm knocked down the larch trees growing in the area. After the storm, the landowner donated the land to the Niinikumpu Village Association, which decided to revive the area to new glory.
As you wander along the paths of Niinipuisto, you'll notice a lookout tower at the highest point overlooking the surrounding countryside (or at least you can imagine it, as the lookout tower is still in the planning stage). The park is planted with trees, which offer tired travellers shade from their foliage (or at least they will once the little saplings have grown).
A restored old drying barn from the early 1900s also stands on the edge of the site. An important building in the farmhouse, it was used to dry and thresh grain in the heat of a kiln. A barn elf often lived there to provide shelter and to ensure that the fire in the kiln did not go out or spread. Here too, in this barn, the barn elf of Niinipuisto, this mysterious creature still watches over the life of the barn.
