Geocache Description:

Located in Red Mill County Park on the north side of the pond.

Red Mill County Park is a county park in LaPorte County. It was a former Girl Scout camp and totals 160 acres of wetland and forest. It forms the headwaters of the Little Calumet River which flows into Lake Michigan. In fact part of the park is an Indiana Nature Preserve. The old dam has been replaced with a babbling mountain brook and a bridge. The park is located on Holmesville Road, near US Highway 421, and just south of Michigan City. It is also near the Indiana Toll Road and Interstate 94. The park is open dawn to dusk and charges no admission. The Park Offices and a beautiful banquet hall are located in the Park. There are many great hiking and biking trails, and is a wonderful place to see birds, deer, and waterfowl. Enjoy but protect the fragile environment.
