Difficulty changes depending on where you are.
People living anywhere from Maine to Georgia will have an
easier time because the Appalachian Trail runs somewhere in
your state. Also, depending on which state you're in the
difficulty changes.
I would love to thru-hike the AT one day, but
that's not quite possible right now. I dayhike frequently
near my home in Virginia that's how I came up with this idea.
What I would like for you to do is:
- Find a directional or mileage sign on the AT. Take a picture of
it with your GPS. Document the coordinates at the sign.
- An alternative to #1 is to find a trail head, and take a
picture of the AT sign/logo that designates the trailhead. Same
thing applies with the coordinates.
- A third thing I'd like for you to do, if possible is to note
the name of the nearest town. If you can, take a picture of their
sign or post office.
- A fourth option is to find a shelter on the AT, take a picture
of yourself or your GPS (if you're like me and hate having pictures
take of you.) Document the coordinates for the shelter.
I'm going to keep this locationless up and
running for a while, so tell your friends!!! I'm appreciative to
all that have posted so far!!! Please only log this cache one time,
so that others may have an opportunity.
