September 9th is Worldwide Flashmob Day! In dozens of cities around the world, hundreds of geocachers are hosting flash mobs: some coordinated at the exact same time! The WWFM is the annual GEOCACHING flash mob extravaganza which was started in 2007 by Team PodCacher.
We are a geocaching couple from Placerville California we will be walking the Cotswolds Way in September with fellow geocaching friends from Oregon. We will be in the city of Winchcombe on September 9th staying in a nearby Bed and Breakfast. We would love to meet some local geocachers so we are hosting this event in front of Saint Peter's Church.
The goal of a flash mob is to do something zany that will get the attention of muggles. We've hosted and helped host several of these in the past. One of them involved everyone donning crazy hats at the same time. Another had us all fishing in the fountain in front of a casino. One time everyone broke out a Frisbee and started throwing them. Those are all great ideas but, since we are hiking with only our backpacks and no baggage, we have decided to keep this simple. Our idea is that people show up as their carricature of a tourist. Perhaps as an American Tourist. We promise not to be offended. Dressing up is optional and feel free to join us in any case.
