Branch line Gawler to Truro

History

The Barossa Valley railway line is a railway line with several branches, running from Gawler into and through the Barossa Valley. The original terminus was at Angaston which opened in 1911. A branch was built from Nurrioopta via Stockwell to Truro opening in 1917, and a further branch from that to Penrice opened in 1950. The Angaston and Truro branches are closed and removed; the line to Penrice remains but has not been used since 2014.

In 2010, the track between Angaston and Nuriootpa was lifted and a shared bike and pedestrian path was put in place.

This line included the following sidings/stations Sandy Creek, Lyndoch, Rowland’s Flat, Tanunda, Dorrien, Nurioopta, Plushs Corner, Stockwell and Truro including the branch line Lightpass and Penrice sidings
