To obtain the final coordinates you will need to attend each of the 8 waypoints and count the things mentioned in the description. Then add all together the 8 numbers for a final total. Enter this number in digits in the checker to receive the final coordinates.
Waypoint 1: These coordinates should place you in the Maude Street Mall. The mall has recently been completely refurbished. After decades of being pedestrian only, cars are now permitted to drive one way and park in the mall. It is a very impressive outdoor space. You will be surrounded by a number of concrete spheres. Count all the spheres in the mall.
Waypoint 2: These coordinates should place you at the base of the telecommunications tower. If you are here during the day you will notice the gate open to several flights of stairs. The view from the viewing platform above is amazing and well worth the exertion required to get to the top. In fact you may need to climb to the top to count the number of flights of stairs from the ground to the viewing platform. You may be able to count them from the ground but the higher they go the harder they are to see.
Waypoint 3: These coordiates should place you at Shepparton Lake. In early 2023 a series of new lights were placed around the lake. As well as lighting up the walking paths around Shepp Lake these lights have a lighting strip on the pole that repeatedly changes colour at night. Take a walk and count the colour changing light poles. Obviously this task is easier undertaken at night but it is possible to count them during the day but beware although all the light poles look the same, a few of them do not have the colour changing feature. During the finals stages of the FIFA Women's World Cup the lights were permanently set to green in support of our Aussie Matildas.
Waypoint 4: These coordinates should put you in front of the state of the art Shepparton Art Museum or SAM. Opened in November 2021 this state of the art building was controversial prior to construction but has become an icon and drawcard for Shepparton. In front of you should be a triangle sculpture. Count the number of triangles you see. ALL the triangles!
Waypoint 5: These coordinates should put you in front of a series of flagpoles. The flags on these flagpoles are frequently changed to promote upcoming community events or seasons. Count the flagpoles.
Waypoint 6: No need to count this one, just write down the number in front of you and add this to the other numbers.
Waypoint 7: These coordinates place you in front of a large Southern Cross windmill. Windmills always remind me of when I lived at Koroit in western Victoria. There was a windmill on the property I owned and it had a slow oil leak. If the oil ran out the windmill would seize so every couple of months or so I would have to climb to the top of the windmill and top up the oil. Always hoped it wasn't a windy day so avoiding the spinning vanes wouldn't be an issue. And it was high up there. Count the vanes on the windmill.
Waypoint 8: These coordinates should place you in the car park for the Shepparton Trots and Shepparton Greyhounds. At the height of Covid 19 this area was used as a testing station. In the days when everyone who was a not even close contact with someone who had tested positive had to go and get tested, Shepparton saw Covid 19 sweep through the city. One morning I joined the queue with a couple of school kids so we could all get tested. 8 hours later we managed to get to the front of the queue and get tested. We took a few snacks but not enough for an 8 hour stint and of course you due to Covid you couldn't go to the shops and buy food because you were under testing protocols. Thankfully security were handing out water and you were allowed to exit your car to go to the toilet. If you here on a quiet day counting the yellow poles that are supporting the parking shade should be easy, a bit more difficult if the races are on.
After totalling the numbers from your counts at the 8 waypoints enter the total number in digits in the checker to receive the final coordinates.
