Dawn to dusk caching only!
This cache was originally hidden for the That's Not Fair . . . or Is It ?!?? Part Deux event on September 2, 2023.
Get ready for another version of the “SET” puzzle which was originally introduced to the NEOGEO area by Ms.CallaLily!
This time there will be yet another unusual twist, as the shapes have been changed to match the theme of the "That's Not Fair" event where this puzzle cache was first introduced. Everything else remains the same, but the ovals, diamonds, and squiggles have now been replaced by Animals, Food, and Structures that you might see at the County Fair.
There is also an additional twist to this puzzle which you may not think is fair. Since there are so many different things to see at the County Fair, each of the shapes may be represented by multiple different objects. So an animal shape may be a cow, a horse, or a pig. A food shape may be a corndog, cotton candy, or French fries. The structure shapes may be a barn, a grandstand, or a tent. You can scream "That's not fair!" all you want, but you'll need to get to work if you want to solve this puzzle!
Once again I've created a shameless copy of Ms.CallaLily’s puzzle cache pages, but this time with the "That's Not Fair" theme and some adjustments for my particular hiding spot.
The deck of cards in the game of "SET" consists of 81 unique cards that vary from each other in their features.
There are 4 features and 3 possibilities for each feature on every card.
- Number of shapes: 1, 2, or 3
- Shape: Animals, Food, or Structures
- Color: red, purple, or green
- Shading: solid, open, or shaded
Each possible combination of features appears only ONCE in the deck of cards.
To play the game, certain combinations of three cards make up a set. For each feature (number, shape, color, shading), the three cards in a set must have each feature either all the same OR all different.
To solve this puzzle, you must identify the 6 unique "sets" among the following cards. Make note of the features of the cards in each set. (Each card can possibly be used in more than one set.)
Once all 6 sets have been identified, count the features that are found among each of the cards in all six sets to solve for the coordinates where this geocache can be found.
Please read these instructions carefully!
Use the following formula: N 41° 32.ABC W 081° 07.DEF
A= Number of times the cards featuring shaded shapes are used
B= Number of times the cards featuring open foods are used plus the number of times the card featuring one solid structure is used
C= Number of times the cards featuring solid animals are used minus the number of times the card featuring one green shaded structure is used
D= Number of times the cards featuring three shapes are used
E= Number of times the cards featuring shaded foods are used plus the number of times the cards featuring green shapes are used
F= Number of times the cards featuring one open shape are used plus the number of times the cards featuring red animals are used

Please bring a pen or other writing instrument with you to put your fair signature on the logsheet.
