Geocache Description:

Co w puszczy piszczy?

It is a series of 102 traditional caches hidden in the Radłów forest

A word of introduction

Radłów Forest covers an area of 14,700 hectares, most of which is woodland, oak-pine mixed forest, a remnant of the ancient Sandomierz Forest. The Kisielina River, which flows through the forest, as well as numerous bodies of water (oxbow lakes, fishponds and gravel pit reservoirs) also adds to the charm of the place. The wilderness area is protected under the Natura 2000 programme, as it is one of the country's most important breeding ground for the Ural owl and the black-tailed godwit, as well as a regionally important nesting site for the European nightjar, the collared flycatcher and the little bittern. In addition, the area protects Poland's northernmost natural habitat of crocus.

In conclusion it is worth mentioning that King Wladyslaw Jagiello repeatedly hunted in this area (during his expeditions he was accompanied by a large part of the Krakow court, so accounts have been preserved, concerning the upkeep of the court during the royal hunting trips - evidence of these many weeks of hunting).

About series

The containers are located along forest paths, which can be easily reached by bicycle (all other vehicles are prohibited to enter the forest). The whole series is several kilometres long, and the containers are characterized by varying difficulty - however, there is no need for specialized equipment, tools or climbing (those containers that require jumping over a moat or bushwhacking in bushes are marked with higher difficulty). The route is friendly for families with children and pets, but remember that this is a protected area!
