(ABT) Ajana Binnu Trail - Railhead
Established around 1913
There were 3 rail lines located at the Ajana Railway Station 1 Main line and 2 Loop lines
The Main line had a 100 ft platform, 60 ft engine pit, a shelter shed which was removed in 1955, a Ladies waiting room which was removed to Wubin in 1939, staff cabin, out of goods shed and telephone room.
Loop line 1 had a 50 ft loading ramp, stock loading ramp and stock yards removed from Gwalla (Northampton) and re-erected at Ajana in 1913
Loop line 2 had a 51 ft turn table which was removed in 1957.
Ajana was a staff station with 2 others located at Northampton and Wokarena, with many buildings located at Ajana Railhead including, 2 12ft x 10ft cabins both removed in 1944, latrine and urinal, train men's barrack suiting 4 people, kithen & lavatory & 1000 gallon tank.
There was a Dropper type perimeter fence with 2 x 13 ft Entry and Exit gates on the West side, and 2 ft gauge tramway to Surprise Lead Mine that was completed in 1920 and removed in 1944.
And the Rabbit Proof Fence was built immediatly to the North of Railhead at around 1907
Passengers, produce, general freight, wool, stock, machinery, mail, mining supplies were all dispatched with passengers, general freight, mail, fertilizer, machinery parts, building supplies and mining requirments were recived at the Ajana Railhead.
