About SCCC
What does it mean to be Chinese SINGAPO人 (“REN” - people in mandarin)? Whether you are deeply rooted in the culture or know next to nothing about the language, the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) puts an exciting and refreshing spin on it. Opened in 2017, the SCCC houses one of the most immersive (and in our humble opinion, underrated) galleries in Singapore. This multi-cache brings you on a journey to discover or re(discover) Chinese culture at the SCCC, and ends with stunning views and a “tasty” treat!
The cache
The posted coordinates will bring you to the vicinity of SCCC. Enter the permanent exhibition, SINGAPO人, on Level 2. Take a wristband, sign in, and start the adventure! Gather the information from each zone to calculate the final cache coordinates.
Zone 1: What Makes Us, "Us"?
Look for "Early Migrants from Southern China". The percentage of Hakka within Chinese population = A
Zone 2: Beyond Generations
Open the drawer under "04-290". Year of marathon = B
Zone 3: When Cultures Meet?
Find "A 陈 by Any Other Name". The last 2 digits of Lim Boon Keng's Identity Card (IC) number = C
Zone T: The Story So Far
Vote for your favourite dishes! Number of dishes on display = D
Zone 4: Made in Singapore
Find the "Chan Kim Boon" display of "Samkok". Page number of the book displayed = E
Final coordinates:
N 01 16. [B - E - (A*C) - 2D + 3]
E 103 50. [(A*C*D) - 13C - (C*D) + 1]
