I love it when we get free time to go outside and play.

Though a worthy history lesson. This final location has changed to much to keep this cache.

Geocache Description:


This cache was originally placed for the fifth annual Greater Omaha Grave Hop, an event that takes place in the Omaha area. The caches are located in and around cemeteries. Please be respectful and search for the caches between dawn and dusk.

 

Spanish American War Medal of Honor James Meredith is here. He was given The Medal of Honor on July 7,1899, at the age of 27. In short his citation reads "for bravery and coolness while facing heavy enemy fire by cutting the cable of his ship, The USS Marblehead,  on May 11, 1898."  There are 112 Medal of Honors awarded for the Spanish American War. 

He continued to serve the Marine Corps and legally changed his name to Patrick F. Ford Jr. in June 1900. He then was discharge from service in 1901. He died in 1915 at the age of 42.
