Die Geschichte der Bäume reicht Millionen von Jahren zurück – noch vor die Zeit der Dinosaurier. Über Jahrtausende haben sich bestimmte Bäume weiterentwickelt, neue Baumarten sind entstanden. Jede Baumart hat unterschiedliche Fähigkeiten ausgebildet, um sich an ihre Umgebung optimal anzupassen. Lärche, Fichte und Zirbe, die drei Hauptbaumarten im Biosphärenpark Nockberge, warten besonders erfolgreich.

The history of trees goes back millions of years – ever before the time of the dinosaurs. Over periods of thousands of years, certain trees continued to develop, so that new tree species come into being. Each species of tree built up a varied set of skills for adapting optimally to its surroundings. The three main tree species in the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve, the Larch, the spruce and the Swiss stone pine, have been particularly successful in doing this.
