DIY Cache Container Fail
Stoneymeade Cache #1
I DIY most of my cache containers and I was experimenting with using a particular glue as a sealant. I was inpatient to see the results so I put the container in the oven on the warm setting to make the glue dry more quickly...but then I was distracted by something else. When I returned to check on the container, it had already begun to melt.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the DIY Cache Container Fail:
I considered discarding it but there was something about its wilted appearance that appealed to me.
Please be respectful and do not take shortcuts through private property to reach the cache location.
The best route is to follow the Stoneymeade trail in Acton until it links up with the trail network of neighboring Carlisle. Then look for a side trail which heads back towards the Acton townline. This side trail is not shown on the Geocaching.com app. Use the map in the link below. This trail fizzles out before you reach the cache location so you’ll have to find your own way. You will face no significant obstacles until you encounter a stream that creates a broad band of marshland. The cache is on the far side. I could not find a way to circumvent this stream but I did find the remnants of a stone wall that forms a causeway of sorts. The stone causeway has slippery areas but it is much easier to navigate than the surrounding muck.
I have provided a photo and the coordinates of this causeway. You’re welcome.
Please take note of the position of the cache container before retrieving it and be sure to return the container to it's original hiding location in order to maintain the intended level of concealment. Also, I would appreciate feedback on the condition of my containers. Each one is an experiment to make them more durable, watertight and inconspicuous. Thank you!
