Haguro Shrine in Shimodate was established in 1481 (Bunmei 13th year) when Lord Mizutani Katsuji, the ruler of Shimodate Castle, enshrined the Haguro Gongen deity from the Dewa Sanzan mountains to pray for peace within his domain.
It serves as the central shrine among several Haguro Shrines in the vicinity.
The annual Shimodate Gion Festival held during summer is a festival dedicated to this shrine, renowned for its grand portable shrine procession and more.

下館羽黒神社は1481年（文明13年）、下館城城主水谷勝氏が領内の安泰を祈願して出羽三山から羽黒権現を勧請したことにはじまり、周辺にいくつかある羽黒神社の中心的な神社です。
毎年夏に行われている下館祇園祭はこの神社の祭礼で、大神輿などで有名です。
