North Campus Open Space (NCOS) is managed by the University of California - Santa Barbara Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration. There have been many recent improvements to this space and the walking paths, including new informational signage and new bridges and paths.
From the Cheadle Center: The North Campus Open Space (NCOS) Restoration Project aims to restore the upper arms of Devereux Slough. Restoration of the estuary supports a diversity of birds, fish, and wildlife; absorbs flood waters; and is adaptive to sea level rise. Over 2.5 miles of trails provide scenic views and connectivity to the California Coastal Trail.
I placed this cache where I like to stop and enjoy the view of the slough. There are ample birdwatching opportunites here. Enjoy!
