Broadway Park consists of two distinct park sections. The park is located between North and South Park Avenue. It is bisected by Cornwall Avenue. Each park has its own playground. The park occupies 6.2 acres in the Cornwall Neighborhood. The park is home to approximately 43 varieties of trees.
Broadway Park West amenities include a large open space suitable for soccer, baseball, and more. It has a basketball half court and backstop fence. Trash receptacle available. Other amenities are easily accessed by crossing Cornwall Avenue. Pets on-lease are welcome. Parking on street. ADA accessible.
The park is available from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
"Broadway Park History
In 1906, the Bellingham Bay Improvement Company was building houses on adjacent land and donated this wetland area to the Park Board. Local residents used a pond on the site for swimming, fishing and ice skating. Development of the park began in 1913: in the 1930s a bowling green and clubhouse were constructed; in the 1940s, the pond was filled; in the 1960s lights from downtown were placed around the park; in the 1970s rest rooms were built; and in the 1980s the park was renovated.
