The cluster of buildings along the Jinzi Chong waterway have survived and been enhanced by the blueway. The larger urban village to the north has been less fortunate. The blueway even passes through one of the buildings at the cache location. The impressive effort to establish a continuous public space along the waterfront even confronted by dozens of obstacles in the form of existing buildings has succeeded based on the playful verging on surreal design and regular flow of residents passing by. There was a sense of pride among the local residents passing by the visitors admiring their waterfront.

The walkway here incorporates elements of surrealism, mystery, and symbolism to create a memorable experience for those passing through. Unusual angles create a sense of disorientation. Elements of symbolism possibly lurk in the artwork and the view of the dragon boat sheds across the water. All that's missing is a dreamlike atmosphere that could be created by more expensive design elements such as lighting, unconventional materials, ambient sounds such as water & birds, and dim lighting with shadows to create a sense of depth and mystery.
