This is one of a series of caches placed by BettwsEarlyYearsTeam. We have placed these caches to encourage families in Bettws to get out and about to appreciate the beautiful scenery around the estate.
The series is based on nursery rhymes, and we encourage you to sing the relevant nursery rhyme after you've found the cache! If you're not sure of the words, look it up, or ask us - we are happy to help!
There was a chronic shortage of housing in Newport and in 1958 there were 4,000 families on the council house waiting list. Many of the first Bettws residents were young families who had been forced to live with their in-laws. In 1971 40% of the Bettws population were under 17 and only 6% were over 65! Can you imagine the amount of children and adults who have played in and around Bettws Brook over the years?
Tweezers will be useful for most of the caches in our series. You will also need your own pen.
The estate is busy, so look out for muggles - stealth may be required to retrieve the cache.
