This cache is part of a new Geoart series of mystery caches located along the Beach Lake Trails. The cache is not at the listed location. You will need to solve a fairly simple puzzle to get the actual coordinates for the cache. To solve this puzzle, you need to find the coordinates of a famous fly-fishing river that are hidden somewhere on this page. Enter these coordinates in Google Maps or similar map program and look for the name of the river. Then enter the name of the river, and the full name (no abbreviations) of the state in which it is located into Puzzle-Checker. If the river is not located in the US, enter the country instead of the state. For example, if the river is the Susitna, your answer is SusitnaRiverAlaska (No Spaces). Submit this answer to Puzzle-Checker, and you will receive the actual coordinates for the cache as well as a hint. There are no numbers in the answers to any of these puzzles!
My father lived most of his 99 years on this famous river. Below are links to a Ted Talk he gave in Portland, and to an amazing documentary about him and his life. My father was a world-famous fly fisherman. He is in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. He also landed on Utah Beach and was in most of the major European battles of WWII. For his heroism in the battle to free France from the German occupation, he received the French Legion of Honor.
This is the river where I grew up and where I learned to fish. I have been fishing this river since I was 14 months old when my father gave me my first fly rod. I caught my first trout here when I was 2 years old, and my first steelhead when I was 5. My father would put me on his shoulders and take me out to the middle of the river where I would cast from his shoulders. I have fished many rivers, and I believe this is the most beautiful river of them all. The background picture was taken from the small fishing lodge that my father started in 1957. People came from all over the world to fish here for summer steelhead. I have been very blessed to have lived in such a wonderful place, and to have had such amazing parents.
