The Jubilee Gardens sits in the shadow of the 900 year old Church of St Lawrence. A walled haven of calm in the middle of a busy market town, the garden is laid out with places to sit and take in the impressive surroundings. To fit in with these, the garden uses local rough stone for the low walls, reclaimed oak frames and gravel from the Bromfield quarry.
The central millstone, a gift from Ludlow town council, had been in use in the 1800s at Hockey's Mill at the bottom of Mill street. It was used as a decorative feature for many years in the Buttercross at the top of Broad Street.
Not far away is a nice stone bench on which to sit and soak in the atmosphere and maybe, pick up a cache!
Please be stealthy as it can sometimes be a high muggle area. Also be careful of the plants. We do not want to destroy the very things we have come to enjoy!
