Eureka is a five-season science fiction series centering on an average sheriff, Jack Carter, who winds up working in a government-sponsored town of savants: Eureka, Oregon. He and his daughter, Zoe, try to fit in a society where advanced quantum equations are taught in elementary school, high schoolers develop groundbreaking technology for group projects, and everything is engineered to be as technologically advanced as possible. Eventually, he gets to know the people who work at Global Dynamics, the government’s research facility in Eureka, by dealing with the aftermath of their inventions’ going awry. From a device emitting a frequency causing people to lose their voice, to rogue drones, to even a mysterious artifact from the origins of the universe, Global Dynamics is hiding many secrets. And rivalries are practically everywhere throughout the facility. Insidious senators, emotionally out-of-touch C.E.Os, and even ambitious new recruits cause all sorts of trouble. But with the friendships he forms throughout his time in Eureka, Sheriff Carter is able to save the day time after time.
I must admit, I haven’t watched Eureka in a while. I started and finished it in 2018 (how I had that much time on my hands is beyond me), but it has been a fond memory of a show ever since. I wouldn’t say it’s the best sci-fi show, but I certainly did love it at the time. Part of the reason is all of the absurdity in the series. In Eureka, nothing is normal, and I found that hilarious. Take, for example, Carter’s deputy, Jo Lupo, who is enamored (almost romantically so) of her weapons. Or Martha the drone, a sarcastic, chaotic A.I.-powered aircraft who is always up to mischief. In one part of the series, the facility gives Sheriff Carter an experimental smart house, SARAH (Self Actuated Residential Automated Habitat), to stay in. SARAH, however, has an attitude of her own, constantly complaining about Carter’s lateness and lack of gratitude. The plot and characters of Eureka are all very unique, for certain.

This Letterbox Hybrid is located at the posted coordinates, but it requires having solved the following puzzle to open. It's located right along the White Rock Creek Trail, a mostly-shady walking & biking path covered by a canopy of verdant trees. There are even some paths into the forest-like area! I felt like I was in a different state the first time I hiked here. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to walk my dog in Dallas. I recommend parking at the parking coordinates—the nearby church's parking lot. From there, it's a 0.75-mile hike to the cache and a 0.75-mile hike back. In total, you'll hike 1.5 miles roundtrip. I do *not recommend searching for this cache at night since this area is pretty sketchy after dark. Do so at your own risk, but I really recommend searching in some form of daylight.
*Ahem. W-we have a little problem. Martha the drone tampered with the Global Dynamics Geolocation Capsule that the scientists and I prepared for you. Now, it’s not opening at all. We’ve asked specialists to take a look at it, and they figured out she placed a shield around the container, "to protect it from non-erudites,” she told us. To open it up, we have to guess her passcode. Cackling whilst flying away, she left but a torn telegram. Perhaps it’ll help you out? Well, good luck, cacher; you’ll certainly need it. Oh, also, while searching, you may encounter Martha. If so, do NOT approach her. She is a highly dangerous drone with offensive capabilities rivaling that of entire militaries, and she’s chaotic enough to use them. Instead, please call Global Dynamics, and we’ll send out a dispatch team immediately.

Good luck searching for this Letterbox Hybrid! If you need any help, don't hesitate to leave me a message!
Congratulations to Einstienium99, TX Cronins, & McKsix for their intrepid FTF!
