The Kitazawa River Greenway is a 4.3-kilometer-long promenade that extends from Akatsutsutsumi upstream to Daida, Daizawa, and Ikejiri downstream.
Until around the early Showa period, the Kitazawa River was beautiful and rich in nature, used for agricultural water. Today, the river is used underground as a sewerage system and above ground as a promenade with a murmuring stream.
Along the greenway, flowers and grasses, which have been beautifully cared for through the tireless efforts of the local residents, show their seasonal expressions.
There is a monument in honor of Tatsuji Miyoshi (1900-1964), whose former residence was located nearby. The inscription reads, "Kansou issan," one of the poems in the book "Hyakutabi no Nochi" (Hundred Times Later), which was compiled in this area, and a photo of his dog, Mimmy, are inscribed on the monument.
