A 1.050 m. s.l.m. nel Comune di Bocchigliero, in Sila, sorge il Santuario di San Rocco, che venne costruito dopo la peste che colpì il territorio silano nel 1723. Gli abitanti si affidarono al Santo e, a decorrere dal 21 agosto, non si registrarono più decessi per causa del morbo. Ogni anno, nei giorni 19-20-21 agosto, Bocchigliero dedica a San Rocco sontuosi festeggiamenti che richiamano in paese migliaia di pellegrini provenienti da ogni parte.
La chiesa è attestata sin dalla seconda metà del secolo XVI. Nel novembre del 1837 ormai mal ridotta,fu demolita e ricostruita a nuovo. Furono demoliti e ampliati tutti i lati, rifatto il tetto, acquistato un organo a canne, la statua del Santo e l’altare in legno intagliato e dorato. E' una chiesa a sala, con abside rettangolare collegata per il tramite dell’arco trionfale. La copertura è a capriate. Nel 1938 la chiesa fu restaurata ed abbellita con motivi floreali dipinti e stucchi, fu demolito l’altare in legno e sostituito con uno in marmi policromi. Il soffitto fu dipinto con pseudo-lacunari con al centro una tela del Santo. La facciata presenta un portale in pietra con piedritti su cui s'imposta l’arco a tutto sesto, il tutto incorniciato in un rettangolo di pietra. Al di sopra del portale un riquadro con l’immagine del Santo concorre ad abbellire, assieme alle due finestrelle cruciformi, la facciata.
Sul lato sinistro della chiesa aderisce una struttura che nei tempi antichi ospitava i malati di lebbra.
La CACHE è un omaggio al paese di Bocchigliero, che ha dato i natali alla madre della mia compagna, con la speranza che questo piccolo gesto possa aiutare queste terre a risollevarsi dallo stato di abbandono in cui si trovano, nonostante le innumerevoli potenzialità artistiche, culturali, ambientali ed eno-gastronomiche. Per trovare la cache, una volta camminato per la ripida salita, sedetevi a riposare!

At 1,050m. above sea level in the Municipality of Bocchigliero, in Sila, stands the Sanctuary of San Rocco, which was built after the plague that struck the Sila area in 1723. The inhabitants entrusted themselves to the Saint and, starting from 21 August, no more deaths were recorded due to of the disease. Every year, on 19-20-21 August, Bocchigliero dedicates sumptuous celebrations to San Rocco which attract thousands of pilgrims from all over the town.
The church is attested since the second half of the sixteenth century. In November 1837, now in bad shape, it was demolished and rebuilt again. All the sides were demolished and enlarged, the roof was redone, a pipe organ, the statue of the saint and the carved and gilded wooden altar were purchased. It is a hall church, with a rectangular apse connected by means of the triumphal arch. The roof is trussed. In 1938 the church was restored and embellished with painted floral motifs and stuccoes, the wooden altar was demolished and replaced with one in polychrome marble. The ceiling was painted with pseudo-lacunaries with a canvas of the saint in the centre. The facade has a stone portal with piers on which the round arch is set, all framed in a stone rectangle. Above the portal, a box with the image of the Saint helps to embellish the facade, together with the two cruciform windows.
On the left side of the church there is a structure that in ancient times housed leprosy patients.
The CACHE is a tribute to the town of Bocchigliero, which gave birth to my partner's mother, with the hope that this small gesture can help these lands recover from the state of abandonment in which they find themselves, despite the innumerable artistic and cultural potential , environmental and food and wine.
