This tree has been included in the List of Monumental Trees of Italy, drawn up following a specific census carried out across the entire national territory by Municipalities, Regions, Carabinieri Corps under the coordination of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies.
Due to its distinguishing features, the tree enjoys a particular protection regime, which prohibits its felling or damaging; in case of violation, an administrative penalty ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 euros applies.

The wood of the faria, highly valuable, long-lasting, and easy to work with, is used for constructing furniture, beams, barrels, floors, and in shipyards. It's also excellent as fuel. The fruits are highly appreciated by pigs.

Questo albero è stato inserito nell'Elenco degli Alberi Monumentali d'Italia, redatto a seguito di uno specifico censimento realizzato sull'intero territorio nazionale da Comuni, Regioni, Arma dei carabinieri sotto il coordinamento del Ministero delle politiche agricole alimentari e forestali.
Per le caratteristiche che lo contraddistinguono, l'albero gode di un particolare regime di tutela, che ne vieta l'abbattimento o il danneggiamento; in caso di trasgressione si applica la sanzione amministrativa del pagamento di una somma da euro 5.000 a euro 100.000.
CURIOSITÀ
Il legno della faria, molto pregiato, di lunga durata e di facile la- vorazione, viene usato per costruire mobili, travature, botti, pavi- menti e nel cantieri navali. E' anche un ottimo combustibile. I frutti sono molto apprezzati dai maiali.
