Geocache Description:

This is a two part multi near Nelson's Dockyard, a well known heritage site on the South of the Island. You can see it from the well known tourist spot of Shirley Heights on the hill opposite.

This is a very well visited area although the actual cache site is a short stroll outside the main dockyard area. To find the trail go round to the back of the "Copper and Lumber Store" and you will see a wall on your right. Near a painted sign that says "Dinghies Only" there is a wooden jetty and a wooden gate. Take this gate to get round the back of the wall and then follow the wooden steps to the trail towards Fort Berkely. Once you have found the first part you will re-trace your steps for a short distance. Look out for the sign that says "Middle Ground Trail". Take the uphill trail indicated by white painted spots. The given co-ordinates will take to something that hasn't "gone off" for a long time. On the side of it you will see all together a 5 digit number ABCDE, a name and a date FGHJ. There are several areas of writing. Make sure you find on in the correct format. Use these in the following to get the location of the physical cache: N 17 HH.(D+E)DH W 061 (G/D)J.GBD The cache is a tupperware style box and is NOT on the ground. If you are coming by boat there is an alternative access point for the first part at N 17 00.140, W 061 45.875 You can also get to this spot by canoe from the beach opposite. I know because that's how I got there when we were staying in one of the beach houses!
