Shortly after entering Pibel Cemetery, the chorus to This Ole House by Stuart Hamblen crept into my mind and accompanied me everywhere I wandered like an old friend at my side. Maybe seeing that old structure in the SE corner got it started… I can’t rightly say, but the song was comfortable, fitting, and an appropriate metaphor for this Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Curiosity prompted an internet search for the lyrics that accompany the chorus. YouTube provided a revealing, poignant back story regarding its creation. Are you curious too?
