Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the ongoing PBBP series spread around the lower North Island. The aim is to take used household containers and put them in interesting places to encouage geocachers to visit and enjoy the surroundings.

Percy Scenic Reserve was first established by the Percy brothers who owned a flour mill on this site. It was opened to the public after 1949. The reserve is a great place to take the family on a range of easy walking tracks around the diverse range of regenerating native forest and plantings of rare and endangered plant species from around New Zealand. There are weta caves to explore and the ever popular Mill pond with its resident ducks. A track also leads to a spectacular waterfall surrounded by native bush. The plants include specimens from the AP Druce collection whichwas donated to the reserve. These include some very rare plant species not often found in cultivation in New Zealand collected by one of New Zealand's leading botanical specialists.

The cache is hidden near the waterwheel. You don't need to leave the path to access it. Watch out for muggles as its a popular place to visit. A flashlight is not essential for the cache but useful for the weta cave.
