Welcome to Draw Bridge. From this spot you can see the world famous San Mateo - Hayward Bridge which opened in 1967. At one time this bridge was not here, and there was an older bridge in it's place. It was a Draw Bridge built in 1929. There was a section of road that lifted up to let ships pass under it. There is a small section that still remains called Werder Pier. It's closed off now though since it is slowly decaying. This cache is located close to a lovely table that offers a shady place to snack, rest, write, or even draw. Take your time, bring a snack, relax.
This cache is large enough for multiple travel bugs to rest at any one time. It is in a heavily trafficked spot with many muggles enjoying the Bay Trail, so please use stealth! While the rest area is here, easy Bay Trail acces is a short walk away on either side of the trail.
I really love seeing the bridge at sunset in the winter months as the light makes the bridge glow against the darker skies in the background.
