Farnham Royal is a small village in South Buckinghamshire, situated 3 miles north of Slough. it has a population of around 6,000 (2011 census) although due to local expansion, this has probably increased by quite a bit by now (2023).
The village name 'Farnham' is Anglo-Saxon and means 'homestead where ferns grow'. The village is listed in the Domesday Book and in 1086 was recorded as Ferneham.
In the late 11th century the affix or suffix 'Royal' was added by the king.
