Fortica is a hill above the eastern part of Mostar, above the villages of Mazoljica and Gornji Zalika. One of the hills surrounding the Mostar Basin. Sivo brdo is rocky and dry. Fortica is a hillock of Velež. There are also the remains of military fortifications from the First and Second World Wars on the top.
The initiative to organize the "Fortica« Sports and adventure park was created at the beginning of 2016, when 8 benches were set up with the support of the HNK tourist community.
In the wider area of Podvelež, vertical cycling signage was installed to mark mountain biking routes and maps with more than 200 km of routes throughout the entire Veleško Pogorje.
At the beginning of 2018, a pillar with the national flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was erected at Fortica. In the same year, the longest zip line in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened, which attracts a large number of visitors and is the main attraction of this park.
In addition to its mountain biking potential, Fortica also has a climbing wall with 13 routes leading to a hilltop bunker called "Stolac". There are several bunkers from the Second World War, as well as the remains of the cable car that was used to deliver food and ammunition from the city. It is on this hill, at the place of the "devil's stairs", that a ferrata with two lines A (easy) and C (medium) is launched, which takes you to the very edge of the hill, which offers a beautiful view of the old part of the city and the old bridge. In the mountain lodge, you can get instructions or guide services and rent ferrata equipment.
Under the observation platform there is a swing with a height of 10 m and a swing length of 15 m, and the swing time is about 2-3 minutes.
In addition to the already mentioned sports activities, the location of Fortica is also popular because of the wonderful view of the city of Mostar and the mountains there, a glass platform was built at this location.
Since the glass platform is full of people in good weather, we moved the cache a bit away from the actual location of the mountain lodge. Also there is a nice view of the skywalk platform from the cache location.
