This series is along the Baw Beese Walking Trail which is a part of the North Country Trail system.Â
Parking is at the corner of Griswold and Barnard Streets and in the three public parks along the lakeshore. Â The three parks are Waterworks Park, Owens Park, and Sandy Beach. Â Sometimes a fee is charged to enter Sandy Beach.Â

Baw Beese Lake has an interesting history. There were several ice companies in the area. Â Ice was shipped out by train at the rate of 100 cars per day at the peak. Why were trains used to move the ice?
