Geocache Description:

16 September 2023, 10:30 - 13:00

This CITO has been set up with the Cook County Forest Preserves.

We will be meeting near Grove # 17. The best way to get there is to enter from the western most entrance on the south side of Higgins (there will be a sign that reads 'Busse Lake Boating Center Groves # 17-25' and go straight until you see the Geocaching sign (the grove will be the first one on the right side).

This CITO event will just be a simple litter clean up. There will be some gloves and grabbers available, but is recommended to bring your own if you have them. There will be plenty of trash bags, as well as bottled water and some snacks. Please make sure you wear proper clothing. Closed toe shoes, long pants, long sleeve shirts are recommended (can always bring a change of clothes just in case).

There are public restrooms. The two closest are marked in the waypoints, as well as there being a map available on a sign near where we're meeting.

Safety Information:

  • Park only in Forest Preserves lots; walk only on Forest Preserves property; avoid moving traffic; stay at least 20 feet away from roadsides.

  • If you encounter non-emergency issues at a site call the Forest Preserve police at 708-771-1001 or in case of emergency, 911. Do not confront visitors.

  • Collection of plants and animals is strictly prohibited. This includes harvesting firewood; collecting mushrooms, wildflowers or other wild plants and their seeds; and otherwise removing or damaging any plants or trees.
